Britain’s Got Talent finalist and impressionist Danny Posthill will star in this year’s pantomime at the Garden Rooms at Tennants in Leyburn.
The pantomime, Cinderella, will be staged by Yorkshire-based AJ Productions, from December 18 to 30.
Danny, who will play Buttons, was an instant hit on the popular TV talent show with audiences and judges alike.
There panto will also feature special performances with local charities benefiting and performing including The Jonas Centre in Redmire and the Leeming Military Wives’ Choir.
A special panto train has also been organised by Wensleydale Railway.
On Christmas Eve Santa will drop in between delivering presents, and for one night only local celebrity and children’s favourite Little Alf will be making a guest appearance.
Pantomime director and producer Jacqueline Turnbull said she was delighted to be working with Danny and bringing the production to Leyburn this year.
“We are hugely excited to work with Danny this festive season.
“Pantomime is incredibly important to us at AJ Productions and we’re extremely proud of our relationship with Tennants, the venue and atmosphere is the perfect combination of warmth and class.
“We promise to entertain and delight audiences from across the region this Christmas with our unique brand of classical storytelling, a lavish set and costumes and we guarantee a night of laughter you will never forget.”
The title role this year will be performed by Hannah Smith from Teesside, winner of competition Search for a Cinderella.
Hannah is no stranger to the stage, having performed up and down the country in various plays and musicals.
The cast will include a local performer with Richmondshire resident, Stephen Longstaff, as part of the ensemble.
Jacqueline added: “Living in Yorkshire I am passionate about using homegrown talent.
“Why go to London to find panto performers when the best in the world is right on your doorstep?
“This year I am thrilled to have Stephen from Reeth as a part of our ensemble, his character is not something you will have seen in traditional pantomime, but Stephen’s performance is one you shouldn’t miss.”
AJ Productions are working with Ashgill Equestrian to bring Sindy the Shetland pony to the proceedings.
Megan Robson plays the fairy godmother, while Gary Martin Davis and Jasper Sole are the Ugly Sisters.
Tickets cost from £16.50 for adults and £10.50 for children with a family ticket available from £49.
