Browns of Richmond wins second national award in a month

Browns of Richmond has secured its second major industry accolade in just four weeks after being named New Independent Dealership of the Year at the Motor Trader Industry Awards 2025.

Often described as the Oscars of the motor industry, the ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House celebrates excellence across the UK automotive sector. The Richmond dealership also took the runner-up spot in the Electric Vehicle Dealer Excellence category.

Founded by directors Fraser Brown and Tim Roelich in August 2024 on Richmond’s Gallowfields Trading Estate, the business impressed judges with its well-executed launch, clear business plan, strong sales performance, innovative marketing, enterprising spirit and positive customer feedback.

The 35th annual awards were hosted by actor and comedian Sally Phillips and attended by more than 700 dealers, suppliers and service providers from across the automotive retail industry.

The win marks another milestone in a standout year for the company, which has quickly established itself as a trusted destination for used vehicle sales—offering petrol, diesel, hybrid and fully electric vehicles—alongside MOTs, servicing and repairs. In October, Browns of Richmond was named Rising Star at the prestigious AutoTrader Retailer Awards 2025, placing it among the top one per cent of UK car dealers.

Co-owner Fraser Brown said: “To gain national recognition at the Motor Trader Industry Awards is a huge moment for everyone involved with the business.

“To be awarded New Independent Dealership of the Year is a real honour, and to come a matter of weeks after being named Rising Star by AutoTrader makes it even more special.

“It shows that our customer-first approach is resonating, and that’s entirely down to the hard work and dedication of our fantastic team.”

Fellow director Tim Roelich added: “What really topped off the night was being named runner-up in the Electric Vehicle Dealer Excellence category.

“It’s a reflection of the EV expertise we’ve worked hard to build, investing in training, infrastructure and sourcing the right vehicles. Being recognised for both our overall performance and the strength of our EV offering is a huge boost and inspires us to aim even higher.”

Browns of Richmond continues to expand, following its recent acquisition of Richmond Motor Services after the retirement of long-standing owner Andrew Townson. The business now employs more than 20 people at its Racecourse Road site.
