Burger King and Starbucks look to open branches in Richmondshire

The site of the proposed new Burger King and Starbucks outlets.

Burger King and Starbucks are looking to build drive-thru restaurants in the district.

Plans have been submitted for the outlets on land opposite Brough Garage on Catterick Road, Colburn.

Documents submitted with the plans state that the Burger King restaurant could create 40 jobs, of which 20 would be full-time, while the Starbucks could create 25 jobs, including 15 full-time positions.

Planning permission has previously been granted for a carpet warehouse on the site.

As well as the two restaurants, the plans submitted to Richmondshire District Council include space for 49 vehicles.

The documents say: “The proposed site is currently vacant land located on the land at Catterick Road adjacent to the roundabout on A6136.

“We believe that this site would make an excellent Burger King drive thru and Starbucks drive thru.”
