Business hotting up for local patio heater supplier

A local company is hoping to help Richmondshire pubs and restaurants get back on their feet when they can reopen on April 12.

SSC Gas and Heaters, ran by businessman Crighton Mather, has been working hard in recent months to source commercial patio heaters to equip local hospitality businesses when they open with outdoor-only restrictions in place.

They managed to secure a good stock of commercial outdoor heaters and LPG before demand and prices soared.

Crighton said: “We began the process way back in March 2020 as we knew we could secure stock at affordable prices ready to support our local pubs and restaurants – now we’re stepping in to do just that.

“Since the recovery roadmap was announced we have been inundated with enquiries and visiting sites daily to support those who need us.

“There just isn’t any additional commercial stock online at the moment so we’re trying to share what we have locally.”

SSC Gas has already supplied heaters to Beth Robinson, landlady of the Beeswing in East Cowton.

She said: “We formed a relationship with SSC Gas back in late 2020 and took delivery of two outdoor heaters.

“We have another two more on the way which are going to help us create a fantastic, warm, comfortable outdoor drinking and dining space.

“We see them as a vital investment to secure our recovery post-lockdown. The team assembled and set up our heaters as well as dropping off gas when we need it– you don’t get service like that from an online retailer.”
