Businesses have been warned to watch out for fake £20 notes after they were used in the district.
A note was passed at The Station in Richmond on Tuesday.
The man using the note was described as middle aged, bald and wearing a navy blue jumper.
The incident has been reported to the police.
It is understood CCTV images have been obtained of the suspect.
