Call for volunteer lifesavers in Richmondshire

Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust is appealing for more people in the Richmondshire area to step forward as Volunteer Community First Responders (CFRs).

The scheme trains local volunteers to attend medical emergencies in their area and provide vital care until an ambulance arrives.

No previous medical experience is needed – just a willingness to help, a caring attitude, and at least 20 hours a month to give.

Volunteers must be aged 18 or over, hold a full UK driving licence with no more than three penalty points, and have access to a vehicle.

CFRs receive full training and support from Yorkshire Ambulance Service, learning lifesaving skills such as CPR and defibrillation.

They are often first on scene, offering vital reassurance and immediate care.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: “Community First Responders play a crucial role in saving lives and supporting patients in those critical first minutes of a medical emergency.

“By volunteering, you can make a real difference to people in your own neighbourhood.”
