Shop staying open to serve local villages

The shop in the car park at Akebar Park, near Leyburn, is staying open to serve local villagers.

The shop has a range of food, drinks and household items, and is receiving orders of fresh vegetables, eggs, bread and milk.

They also have frozen meat and veg, as well as alcohol and cigarettes.

Manager Chris Enright said: “We wanted to stay open and do what we can to make sure people get the things they need.

“We have fresh bread and milk, and even some toilet paper.

“We have plenty of ample parking so that people can keep their safe distances and we;re allowing just one person in the shop at a time.”

The shop is adjacent to the Friars Head pub.

It is  open 8.30am to 4pm everyday, except Wednesday when it’s open until 12noon.
