The Medals Shield final will be contested by Carperby and Hawes after both teams won their semi-final 3-0.

Carperby reached the final for the fourth consecutive season but had to work hard for the victory in their home game against Leyburn.

The home side started well and got in front early on when Michael Dent broke down the right and pulled the ball across for Sam Lambert to finish

Carperby started strongly, but Leyburn battled well in a combative first half.

Carperby tried to keep the ball better in the second half and got better control of the game, with Leyburn continuing to work hard and make it difficult for the home side.

Carperby got some breathing space when Sam Lambert went through and the ball broke for dangerous Harry Davis, who finished well.

Leyburn then had a penalty appeal turned down as they tried to get back into the game, which slowed their momentum.

As Leyburn tried to push more players forward, there was more space for Carperby when they broke forward.

After a couple of decent chances, a shot by Davis was saved but hit the unfortunate Oliver Scott and went in off the underside of the bar to make it three.

Carperby’s Coen Pickard-Sparne then had a penalty appeal turned down of his own when through on goal.

In the other semi-final, two second-half goals from Thomas Calvert and one from Macauley Acton were enough to overcome Reeth.

Back in the league, Richmond Town Academy enjoyed back-to-back wins by beating Askrigg 4-1.

Tom Ward turned in a free-kick, whipped in by Fin Tulip, to give Academy the lead, before James Connelly got his seventh goal in seven games.

Charlie Bond made it three from a Tulip corner, who then converted from the penalty spot.

There was still time for Alan Middleton to grab a late consolation goal for Askrigg.
