Richmondshire exhibitors were among the prize winners as the curtain came down on the 167th Great Yorkshire Show.
Catterick exhibitor Mark Bond celebrated a remarkable victory after his nine-year-old British Saanen goat, Dalestone Britney, was crowned Best Goat in Show.
The win was particularly special as Dalestone Britney also claimed the prestigious title three years ago. Earlier in the week, Mark had also picked up dairy awards for milk and cheese produced by the award-winning goat.
Speaking after the victory, Mark said: “You always hope you win just once but twice, at nine, is extra-special. She has done tremendously and we are ecstatic.”
The successes came as another record-breaking Great Yorkshire Show drew to a close on Friday.
Show director Rachel Coates said it had been “an incredible four days”, praising the high standard of competition and thanking volunteers, staff, stewards and visitors for making the event such a success.
The final day also featured appearances from Clarkson’s Farm star Harriet Cowan, who met visitors and presented prizes in the beef young handlers competition, while Yorkshire’s Best Young Farmer title was awarded to Emily Fretwell of Penistone.
On the final day, Nick Lane Fox handed over the presidency of show organisers, the Yorkshire Agricultural Society as Rodrica Straker stepped forward to take over for 2026/27.
The Great Yorkshire Show will return next year from Tuesday, July 13 to Friday, July 16, 2027.
