Catterick Garrison boxer Elliot Done has been selected to compete for England.

Elliot, 14, a pupil at Risedale Sports and Community College, will travel to Romania next week to take part in the European Schoolboy Championships.

He will be part of a 14-man England squad and will compete in the 59kg division.

The selection comes after Elliot became England Boxing Schools Champion for his weight for the second successive time earlier this year.

Elliot only started boxing in 2015 when he joined Darlington Amateur Boxing Club.

He said: “He said my dad took me along and I loved it – I love fighting and the competitiveness of boxing.”

Dad Simon Done said Elliot got lots of support from his sister Tillie and Risedale College.

Risedale head Colin Scott added: “We are very proud of Elliot and what he has achieved.

“We do what we can to support the aspirations of out students.”
