Three of the four Wensleydale Scotts for Storage League games fell victim to the weather at the weekend.

The only surviving game was Richmond Town Reserves at home to Catterick Garrison which was played despite thick fog enveloping the 3G pitch at the Dave Clark Arena.

The game was 0-0 deep into the second half. On the hour mark, the referee asked both managers if they wanted to continue with the fog getting worse.

The managers agreed to keep playing, despite concerns from the players. It was a decision that Catterick manager Lee McKenny later admitted he may have got wrong.

Despite good work from new Garrison keeper Mark Birnie, who was playing after Scott Leeming signed for Richmond Town, the home side went ahead through Scott Ryan.

Tom Gilroy made it 2-0 shortly afterwards, before Ryan got his second. Harry Beresford then made it four with the final whistle approaching.

There was still time for Catterick’s Josh Pettler see his in-swinging corner sail over everyone and into the far top corner for 4-1 scoreline.

It was Catterick’s first defeat of the season but they still remain in top spot.
