York Magistrates' Court.

A 44-year-old man has appeared in court charged with attempting to meet underage boys for sex.

Graham Thistlethwaite, 44, of Essex Close, Catterick Garrison, did not enter any pleas to the charges when he appeared at York Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

He is charged with three counts including attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and meet a 12-year-old boy for sexual purposes on February 9 last year.

He is also accused of attempting to meet a 13-year-old boy for sexual activity on March 9, 2020, following alleged grooming.

His solicitor Craig Robertson said there was to be no indication of pleas at this stage to any of the charges.

District judge Adrian Lower sent the case to Teesside Crown Court where Thistlethwaite will appear on June 11.

Mr Lower told the defendant: “The (allegations) you face are so serious they must be allocated to the Crown Court.”

Thistlethwaite was granted bail on condition that he had no avoidable contact with children under 16 years of age.
