Catterick Garrison man admits child grooming charges

Teesside Crown Court.

A 44-year-old man has admitted trying to meet two under-age boys for sex following sexual grooming.

Graham Thistlethwaite, from Catterick Garrison, appeared at Teesside Crown Court today when he pleaded guilty to three charges including attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and trying to meet a 12-year-old boy for sexual purposes.

Those offences occurred between February and March last year when Thistlethwaite contacted the child “on more than one occasion”.

He also admitted attempting to meet a 13-year-old boy for sexual activity on March 9, 2020, following sexual grooming.

Neil Cutte, for Thistlethwaite, asked for sentence to be adjourned for probation and psychological reports on his client.

Recorder Jamie Hill QC postponed sentence to August 23 but told Thistlethwaite that all sentencing options would be considered by the court, including jail.

Thistlethwaite, of Essex Close, was granted bail on condition that he had no avoidable contact with children under 16 years of age.
