Catterick Garrison motorist banned for 40 months for drink driving

York Magistrates' Court.

A Catterick Garrison man has been banned from driving for 40 months for drink driving.

Luke Walmsley, 28, of Lys Crescent, appeared before magistrates at York yesterday.

The court heard he was stopped while driving his BMW 5 Series on Catterick Road September 1 last year.

Tests found he had 58 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35.

Walmsley pleaded guilty to the drink driving.

Another charge of failing to stop after an accident involving a Ford Fiesta, which was said to have occurred in Richmondshire Walk, Catterick Garrison, on August 31, 2019, was dismissed as prosecutors offered no evidence.

The defendant had pleaded not guilty to this charge.

He was banned from driving for 40 months, although the ban will be reduced by 40 weeks if he passes a drink-drive rehabilitation course.

He was also fined £346 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £35.
