Catterick Garrison restaurant set to close

The Brewers Fayre restaurant in Catterick Garrison is to close this week.

The company has confirmed the venue on the Princes Gate Shopping Park will only serve food and drink to guests staying at the Premier Inn hotel from Friday onwards.

The change is part of a restructuring by owners Whitbread.

A spokesperson for the company said: “After many years serving the community we can confirm the Catterick Brewers Fayre is closing its doors.

“We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the local community for their support over the years and our amazing team members.”

Whitbread revealed it would be axing around 1,500 jobs across the UK earlier this year.

It came amid plans to slash its chain of branded restaurants by more than 200 in favour of building more hotel rooms.

The group said the move was part of a plan to optimise its food and drink offering to add more than 3,500 hotel rooms across its estate and increase “operational efficiencies”.

Whitbread said it planned to sell 126 of its less profitable branded restaurants and would convert 112 restaurants into new hotel rooms.
