Catterick Garrison soldier runs two marathons and raises more than £3,000

A Catterick Garrison soldier has run two marathons and already raised more than £3,000 for three different charities.

Mike Ransley, 38, a Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant at the Infantry Training Centre, completed the first marathon on Saturday in normal running gear.

The father-of-four then took on his second marathon which he completed in military uniform with 20kg of equipment.

He then plans to run a third this weekend dressed in fancy dress — as a princess!

Mike has chosen three different charities to benefit from his running —NHS Charities Together, the Army Benevolent Fund and the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment Benevolent Fund.

The soldier said he had decided to undertake the challenge “in recognition of the current and uncertain times we all face and to recognise the incredible work being done by our NHS and other key workers”.
