Catterick Garrison soldier runs three marathons to raise money for three different charities

A Catterick Garrison soldier is running three marathons to raise money for three different charities.

Mike Ransley, 38, a Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant at the Infantry Training Centre, completed the first marathon on Saturday which he undertook in normal running gear.

The father-of-four will take on his second marathon this weekend, which he will aim to complete in military uniform with 20kg of equipment.

He then plans to run a third on May 30 in fancy dress.

Mike has chosen three different charities to benefit from his running —NHS Charities Together, the Army Benevolent Fund and the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment Benevolent Fund.

More than £2,000 has already been pledged.

The soldier said he had decided to undertake the challenge “in recognition of the current and uncertain times we all face and to recognise the incredible work being done by our NHS and other key workers”.
