A Catterick Garrison company has been given the honour of tailoring military uniforms for the funeral of Sir Captain Tom Moore.

Eastern District Tailors will provide a number of uniforms for the event, which takes place on Saturday.

The owners of the business, Shahzad and Sima Younis, and Ayub and Shirley Bhatti, said it was an honour to be asked to do the work.

Shahzad said: “We are extremely proud to have tailored uniforms for the funeral of Sir Captain Tom Moore who was a truly remarkable man inspiring so many during such a difficult time for people across the world.

“As a company we have tailored uniforms for hundreds of military events including the largest parades in Europe, but this is a truly special event that we are privileged to be associated with.”

The family-run tailors, established in 1990, has carried out national contracts across the UK for more than 20 years and are now the approved military tailoring contractors for the North Region.

They provide high quality tailoring services for both military personnel and civilians, with customers from the Army, RAF, police and local community.

The company’s seamstresses have been working over the last week to tailor a number of uniforms  ready for the service on Saturday.

Shahzad said: “I am extremely thankful to our team who have worked tirelessly to ensure delivery for Sir Captain Tom Moore’s funeral.

“They each complete every project with pride, but these pieces really have been so special to work on and we are hugely honoured to be involved.”
