A Catterick Garrison woman, who used her participation in the final of Miss North Yorkshire 2020 to raise awareness about her condition, has spoken of her delight after coming second.
Amber Killey, 22, took part in the final of the modelling contest and pageant on Friday at the The Swan Hotel, Billingham.
By coming first runner up, she is now Supermodel England Catterick and will be representing the town in the Supermodel England final next September.
Amber has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a rare inherited condition that affects connective tissue and wanted to use the contest to raise awareness about the condition.
She is also raising vital funds for Middlesbrough children’s hospice Zoë’s Place baby hospice.
Amber said: “I’m still in shock. It was an incredible night — everyone looked absolutely fantastic.
“Throughout the next year I will continue raising awareness for EDS and attending events within our local area as well as continuing with vital funds for Zoë’s Place baby.
“I have so far raised £745.97 for them since I started fundraising in 2018.”
Amber’s makeup was done by local makeup artist Adrienne Kewley who will be supporting her throughout the year, as well as doing her makeup for the Supermodel England final.
