Catterick Golf Club is calling on golfers and the wider community to support people affected by devastating flooding in Nepal.
The club has added a Nepal Flood Disaster Charity Golf Open to its calendar at short notice following reports and images of the destruction caused by the floods.
The event will take place on Sunday, September 20, with all entry fees donated to support flood victims.
Club officials said they wanted to help because of Catterick Golf Club’s strong links with the local Gurkha and Nepalese community.
The competition will be a three-person Texas Scramble, with teams able to include any combination of men and women.
Tee times will be available between 8am and 1pm, with entry costing £15 per person.
Organisers have confirmed that 100 per cent of entry fees from both members and visitors will go towards the flood appeal.
A club spokesperson said: “We have all seen the heartbreaking images coming from Nepal and the devastating impact the floods are having on people’s lives.
“As a club that is incredibly proud of our Gurkha and Nepalese community, we felt we had to do something to help.
“We appreciate that this is a very last-minute addition to the golfing calendar, but we hope our members, local golfers and the wider community will get behind the event.
“Whether you enter a team, donate a raffle prize or simply help spread the word, every contribution will make a difference.”
There will be prizes for the top three teams as well as a raffle, with food available from the clubhouse bar and restaurant.
The club is also appealing to businesses, organisations and individuals to sponsor the event or donate raffle prizes, including vouchers, experiences and products.
