Catterick parkrun is joining with other groups around the country in marking International Women’s Day this weekend.

Event organisers are celebrating the day by hosting a special celebration of female participation run on Saturday March 7.

Trevor McDermot, from Catterick parkun, said: “We would love to see as many women as possible taking part at the completely free Catterick parkrun on this day.

“It would be fantastic to see lots of girls too from the age of four up to 10 years (accompanied by a responsible adult) –  with more mums and babies in pushchairs.

“Whether you want to walk or jog or run, or just to come along and watch.

“We always have free coffee and cake, so please do consider registering for parkrun and heading down to the racecourse, and bring daughters, grandmas’, aunts, nieces, friends, colleagues or neighbours along with you to share in the fun.”

For information on how to register see https://www.parkrun.org.uk/catterick/

The event is supporting the #ThisGirlCan campaign and are giving out a number of free t-shirts, donated by @NorthYorksSports.

New participants should email catterick@parkrun.com along with their run barcode numbers and their name.

They will then go on the list to receive a t-shirt.

These will then be handed out at the 8.50am first timers briefing.
