Catterick Racecourse’s national hunt season comes to an end on Wednesday, March 8 when the course will stage its countryside ladies’ day, which this year also coincides with international women’s day.

The day has grown in popularity since its inception in 2020, with the day providing an opportunity for racegoers to showcase winter fashions while enjoying an afternoon of racing action.

Amid the seven race card, racegoers will be invited to take part in fashion competitions including best dressed lady and best accessory.

The best dressed lady competition has been sponsored by the Black Bull Inn and Catterick’s jumps season best dressed lady for 2023 will win a two-course meal for two people and a bottle of wine.

Millbry Hill Country Store are offering a prize for the best accessory on the day.

Emma Stevenson, general commercial manager at Catterick, said: “This meeting is the final fixture of our 2022/23 national hunt season – we’ve had a fantastic season so far and it’s great to end on a high note with countryside ladies’ day. We always look forward to seeing all the wonderful outfits on ladies’ day.”

Catterick’s champion owner, trainer and jockey for the 2022/23 season will also be decided by the end of racing on 8 March.

Sue Smith currently tops the champion trainer series, but it’s close at the top with just one win between the top six trainers, and the owner’s series is also very tight.

The racing action on the day is scheduled to start at 1.20pm, with the feature race – a three-miles one furlong novices’ steeple chase – at 3.20pm.

The last race on the card is scheduled for 4.20pm.

The gates will open to the public two hours prior to the first race and a free shuttle bus will run from Richmond Market Place to bring racegoers to the racecourse approximately one hour prior to the first race and will return after the last.

Tickets will be available to purchase at the gates on the day, while advanced and group booking discounts are available at catterickbridge.co.uk and via the racecourse office up to 48 hours prior to the race day.

Accompanied under 18’s are admitted free of charge.
