Changes to roadworks in schedule in Hawes due to rain

Highways bosses say they have made changes to the schedule for the Hawes resurfacing work due to the heavy rain last week.

Officials say the full resurfacing of the A684 through the town is progressing as planned.

However, a spokesperson said: “Some changes were made to the original programme due to the heavy rain last week.

“We’re aiming to shorten the overall programme requiring a full road closure by bringing forward the final surface work at the market place to next week.

“Strengthening work on Penn Lane will also take place next week and the final surfacing is due to be completed on Burtersett Road.”
From the week commencing 24 October contractors are planning to lay the final surfacing on The Holme and Penn Lane and undertake the resurfacing at the junction with Brunt Acres Road.
The spokesperson added: “If there are any further changes, due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, we’ll let local residents and businesses know.

“Sorry for any inconvenience while the work is carried out.”
