A popular daytime clubbing event is set to return to Richmond next month to raise money for a charity that provides life-saving defibrillators across the area.
Organiser Keith Smith is hosting the event on Saturday, 4 July, from 3pm to 7pm, at the Comrades Club in Richmond, with all proceeds going to Heart of Richmond.
The event will feature an 80s versus 90s music theme, with a mix of original tracks, remixes and mash-ups from the two decades. DJs Keith, Big P and Caz will be providing the soundtrack.
Entry costs £5 on the door, and representatives from Heart of Richmond will be attending to speak with guests about the charity’s work in the community.
The daytime format proved popular when a similar event was held in March, raising £752 for the charity.
Mr Smith said the concept is all about offering a clubbing experience during the day, allowing people to enjoy music, dancing and socialising while still getting home before dark.
Heart of Richmond works to improve access to public defibrillators and raise awareness of cardiac emergencies across the Richmond area. The charity has helped fund and maintain a network of potentially life-saving devices in local communities.
Mr Smith praised the charity’s efforts, saying: “It’s so important to have defibrillators in our area and I personally think Lee Whitworth and his team at Heart of Richmond and Heart of Catterick are doing an amazing job.”
He added that another fundraising daytime clubbing event is already planned for 24 September in aid of Heart of Catterick.
Organisers are hoping for another strong turnout and are encouraging local residents to support the event while helping raise money for an important local cause.
