Richmondshire schoolchildren are gearing up to give riders in the world cycling championships a warm welcome later this week.
Youngsters from Richmond Methodist, St Francis Xavier, Trinity Academy Richmond, St Mary’s RC Primary School and Wavell CP will be cheering on the cyclists in the junior men’s road race of the UCI Road World Championships.
They will be waving them off as they leave Richmond town centre with flags designed by children from Trinity Academy and Richmond Methodist schools.
Ryan Buck and Ethan Ryan from Trinity Academy and Amelia Bartley and Isla Jenkinson from Richmond Methodist, won a district council competition to find designs to represent both the district and the schools.
They are pictured with their UCI goody bag prizes and winning flags.
