Christmas card appeal launched for Catterick’s care home residents

An appeal has been launched to deliver Christmas cards to residents of Catterick’s care homes.

Catterick Neighbourhood Policing Team is working with local schools to deliver as many Christmas cards as possible

PCSO Nicole Randall said: “The pandemic has effected elderly residents who live in care homes and it’s important now more than ever that we pull together as a community to show them that they do matter, they’ve not been forgotten and they are valued.

“Last Christmas, care homes had to take extraordinary measures in order to keep their residents safe, leaving many elderly residents isolated from their families and friends.

“The festive period can be a lonely time for those with no family and friends to celebrate with, opening a Christmas card can fill you with warmth, excitement and a feeling of belonging.”

Schools and nurseries will be making Christmas cards for the residents.

There is also a post box in Tesco Catterick Garrison for anyone else who would like to send a card.

PCSO Randall will then deliver the cards to care homes on December 13.
