Christmas tree collections need to be booked in advance, council says

Christmas trees will be collected from around 7,000 Richmondshire households early next year.

Every subscriber to the district council’s garden waste service is entitled to the one off January collection – but this year they must book the service.

Collections will take place week beginning January 13 but as it is a stand-alone service, it may not be on the same day as the regular recycling collection day.

To activate this service residents are asked to register by going to Richmondshire.gov.uk and follow the link to garden waste collections.

All requests must be received by 5.15pm on January 5.

Collections dates will then allocated and emailed to subscribers. Christmas trees and green bins must be at the kerbside by 6.30am on collection day.

“The changes are being made to create a more efficient service and help reduce the council’s carbon footprint,” said corporate director (operations), Colin Dales.

“Residents should note that only subscribers who have registered for these collections will receive this service.   We will not be collecting trees left out by non subscribers.”
