Church members lead charity mission in Africa

The Influence Church members heading to Uganda.

Twelve members of Influence Church in Richmond are heading to Uganda on Thursday to spend a week working on projects run by the charity Compassion.

Compassion UK strives to enable children in severe poverty across the world to thrive; beginning with provision of pre-natal and post-natal care and nutrition, and continuing with their sponsorship programme, which gives individual children access to food, education, health checks and the care of the local church.

Members of Influence Church currently sponsor more than 100 children in the project.

The team will be working alongside the charity at child development centres, taking part in home visits, as well as having the opportunity to meeting their sponsored child.

Richard McGuinness, associate pastor, said: “We’re really looking forward to being able to see first-hand the incredible work of Compassion, as well as meet the children and families who we’ve been supporting for many years.

“Our hope is to pave lifelong relationships with different communities in Uganda and help to be part of lasting change and influence.”
