Colburn-based business The Vehicle Group (TVG) has handed over a cheque for £1,466 to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service (YAS).
The money was raised by staff at the company’s headquarters on Colburn Business Park, with the help of suppliers, customers and local businesses.
Every Christmas the company receives gifts for staff from suppliers.
This year it was decided to raffle these gifts off for charity and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service was chosen to benefit.
As well as these gifts, the company approached local Richmondshire businesses and received dozens of other raffle prizes.
Raffle organiser Paula Underwood, TVG sales ledger clerk, said: “It’s not something we have done before but it’s been a massive success and it has spurred us on to beat that target next year.
“We had more than 70 donated in total – people were so generous. As well as local companies we had suppliers out in China giving us prizes for the raffle.”
She added: “I think the Yorkshire Air Ambulance is a charity that resonates with a lot of people as we all might need it one day.”
Olivia Mulligan , YAS community fundraiser, received the cheque at the TVG offices last week and thanked the staff and those who donated raffle prizes for their support.
Those local businesses who gave donations include: Middlesbrough FC, Alessandro’s, Empire Cinema, Premier Meats, 149 Fish and Chips, Twisted Arts, Springfield House B&B, NY Timber, Sweeney Todds, Ginger Tree, Barkers, Andrea’s, Proper Tasty, Imperial Professional, Robin Cook Motor Company, Scotton Social Club, Acorn Dairy, Studio 19, Razorblue, Pev’s Taxis’s, King’s Head, Glen Office and Travis Perkins.
