A Colburn company has launched a free YouTube channel for children studying at home during the pandemic.

PT TV has been set up by Principal Teachers, which supplies teachers and teaching assistants to schools across the region.

The channel is designed for primary and lower secondary children and offers free creative, educational and well-being activities for children working at home.

The channel has been created to support parents who are juggling home-working and home-educating their children.

The videos are produced and delivered by teachers, with a focus on the creative curriculum.

Principal Teachers director Becca Morgan said: “Our channel offers a wide range of free activities which will help engage both Early Years, primary and lower secondary pupils.

“Each weekday there will be new content uploaded – all in the safe, warm environment of PT TV.

“Children can access art, Pirate Rodney’s story time, sailor Jez’s dance workouts, French, mindfulness, yoga, nature walks and much more.

Becca added: “The pandemic has had a dramatic effect on my business, Principal Teachers supply agency.

“I built PT from scratch and have worked day and night to make it a success.

“It has been going from strength to strength for the past 20 years and my 3 daughters now also work in the team, so it is a real family affair.

“I am not prepared to give up, it is important at this time that we diversify, I have found a way that we can do this but also marry it with my passion for supporting children.

“I am a teacher myself and during the first years of running the business, I juggled bringing up 5 young children and working at home.

“So I understand how challenging it must be to be a working at home parent, trying to balance a job and home-educating your children.”

Becca continued, “I also run an alternative education provision for children with SEMH difficulties (PT Hub) I see first-hand the challenges that a lot of our young people are currently facing.

“I want to be able to bring the warm, safe, family feel of PT TV to as many children as possible and significantly improve their well-being.”

Access to PT TV is free via YouTube and anyone who subscribes and likes the videos is helping to ensure the channel can continue to create free content to children.

The videos are intended to supplement schoolwork and are designed to be viewed in the afternoons, children could perhaps choose to finish off the school day with a yoga session and a good old-fashioned story by the fire.
