A programme of drainage improvements to alleviate flooding issues in Colburn will begin on Monday, March 1.

The county council’s highways team will carry out the works under a full road closure on Colburn Lane over 14 days, Monday to Friday, between 7.30am and 5.30pm.

Due to the nature of the works and the constraints of the site there will be times when access for vehicles isn’t possible.

Pedestrian access will be permitted.

Advance warning signs are in place and vehicles must follow a short diversion through Forest Drive and Colville Road.

Operatives working on site will be observing all Government guidelines on safe social distancing.

Local member Councillor Helen Grant said: “I welcome these works which will alleviate flooding issues in the area. The existing drainage is currently unable to deal with the capacity of water it sometimes endures.

“We are asking residents to make arrangements to store their vehicles at an alternative location and to comply with the restrictions. We apologise for the inconvenience these works may cause but would remind residents and road users of the long-term benefits.”
