Colburn to hold fifth reunion and gathering

The fifth Colburn reunion and gathering will take place this Saturday.

The day will begin with a church service celebrating Colburn and remembering family and friends at 10am in St Cuthbert’s Church.

The Church Hall will then be open for refreshments.

People are also invited to provide flowers for a flower festival which will be available for viewing in the church over the weekend.

From midday the event will then centre round the Hildyard Arms where Colburnites old and new are invited to come along and meet up with old friends or get to know your neighbours.

There will be a barbecue and outside bar, with live music from Gerry Hodgson, as well face painting and bouncy castle. A raffle will also be held with gifts donated by local businesses.

Across from the Hildyard Arms, Rupert Hildyard has donated a field where local groups have been invited to run taster sessions of what they offer the residents of Colburn.

Children from Colburn Primary School will provide stories and pictures with a Colburn theme to be shown around the town.

A memory book will be made available across the day.

This is an opportunity for residents to add a postcard sized photo and memory/comment of a loved one who was from or lived in Colburn.

It will be available to view/add at the Church, Church Hall and also later in the day at the Hildyard Arms.

Also scheduled is a tug of war contest, planned to take place over the ford.

To end the day Hanson’s Club will provide live music and entertainment with the Kris Atkins performing. The evening will begin from 7pm and all are welcome.
