Comic songs made famous by Victoria Wood, Jake Thackray, Tom Lehrer and others will be performed at Reeth Memorial Hall this weekend.
Musician and songwriter Paul Thompson will return to the venue on Saturday, August 22, with his show To Absurdity and Beyond!
The performance follows his Jake Thackray tour in 2024 and will celebrate classic comic songs by Thackray, Victoria Wood, Flanders and Swann, Tom Lehrer and Tim Minchin.
Paul will also perform some of his own satirical material.
The programme is set to include The Ballad of Freda and Barry (Let’s Do It), Sister Josephine, Poisoning Pigeons in the Park and The Hippopotamus Song, among other comic favourites.
Paul is an accomplished musician and songwriter and performs with Nadine, a guitar once owned and named by Jake Thackray.
He is also the co-author of Beware of the Bull – The Enigmatic Genius of Jake Thackray, a biography of the Yorkshire-born singer-songwriter and comedian.
His latest book, Jake Thackray – The Unsung Writer, is an anthology of Thackray’s prose writing.
Doors at Reeth Memorial Hall will open at 7.30pm, with the performance beginning at 8pm.
Tickets cost £14 in advance or £16 on the door, with half-price admission for under-16s.
