Community gathering planned to remember those lost to suicide

A community gathering will take place this weekend in Colburn to remember people who have taken their own lives.

It follows a number of tragedies in the Catterick area in recent months and years.

It will be held in the park off Forest Road, Colburn, from 8.30pm on Saturday.

The gathering has been organised by resident Nikita Danylew.

She said: “The reason I’m doing this is for anyone else suffering with either grief or mental health struggles, to know we are here as a community and we will listen.

“I shall be standing on the field from 8pm and my slogan is ‘I’ve got you, I will listen’.”

The public is being invited to bring a candle and share their stories with those gathered.
