A new shop has opened in Reeth which aims to help residents cut down on the amount of plastic and chemicals they use in their own home.

The Two Dales Community Refill Station is the idea of local business owner Sam Johnson, who runs Alfresco Adventures and environmentally friendly body care products company FeGoo.

The shop sells a range of products including cleaning products and laundry detergent, as well as soaps, shampoo and conditioner.

Customers bring their own packaging or buy reusable packaging at the shop, which is based at Sam’s offices at Bagshaws Yard in Reeth.

Sam said: “Barely a day goes by that we turn on our TV’s or look to our mobile devices and to see more disturbing evidence relating to the impact of our wasteful, throwaway lifestyles.

“Our refill station is designed to help you stop being part of the problem.

We get people don’t like change but a small change can make big difference. We’d love it if you would come and give our refill station a go-you’ll be surprised how many products we stock.

“We also wanted to make it affordable for all not just a select few.”

Five per cent of any profit made will go to Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The shop is open Monday 9.30am to 12noon, Friday 8.45 am to 12noon and the first Monday of every month 7pm to 8.30pm.
