The Comrades has reopened in Richmond’s Newbiggin today after new tenants were found.
The venue has been taken over by local DJs Craig Metcalfe and Nathan Murphy, who already Smooth Sounds Around Town mobile disco service.
It shut last month after previous leaseholder Maria Smith said she could no-longer continue operating the club.
Nathan said the pair aimed to “provide good vibes, a friendly atmosphere and something for everyone”.
He added: “Offering a wide selection of drinks with excellent offers, live music and a pool tables, The Comrades is perfect for an after-work drink, a weekend social or even just a relaxing pint with the dog.
“That’s right, we are dog friendly and welcome all pooches, as well as allowing people to bring in food as long as they are also purchasing drinks.
“Every week we will have set events such as karaoke, open mic nights and DJ sets as well as entertainment nights with live acts such as comedians, mediums and drag performances.”
Nathan said the venue was also dedicated to fundraising and would be hosting charity events during the year.
He added: “The Comrades is not just focused on low priced drinks and entertainment, we want to offer a fun and friendly setting that suits everyone, which is why we gladly welcome families and children – we are planning on setting up a youth club to build on this so our Richmondshire youngsters have somewhere safe and friendly to socialise with their friends.
“We also have a function room which welcomes all occasions at reasonable rates, as well as being able to offer a DJ at a discounted rate and a private bar.”
The Comrades is open every day except Wednesdays from 12pm -12.30am.
