Concerns over letters from North Yorkshire Police

North Yorkshire Police's Northallerton headquarters.

North Yorkshire Police has reassured residents that letters received by Richmondshire residents from the force are legitimate.

The force says households maybe have received a letter, or spoken to an officer, regarding the neighbourhood alert/community messenger service.

A spokesperson said: “Concerns have been raised regarding residents worried that these letters are not legitimate, however we can confirm they are.

“Our aim is for as many people in Richmondshire to be signed up as possible, receiving regular alerts via email, regarding crimes/appeals or other relevant police information direct from the police to anyone signed up.”

The force said that if you see an email address on a letter claiming to be from the North Yorkshire Police, one way to double check the legitimacy, would be to look at the domain which will end in “@northyorkshire.police.uk“.

If you would like to sign up to community messenger police email elliot.brown@northyorkshire.police.uk for further information, on what we require and how to get signed up.
