A scheme that offers council tax discounts to Richmondshire residents looks set to be streamlined.
Local people are being consulted on changes to the district council’s council tax reduction scheme – including on the way it calculates council tax reduction for working age people.
It would see reduction for working age customers calculated using an income grid scheme rather than the means tested scheme currently used.
Council tax reduction is a discount on council tax based on income.
The maximum discount is set at 85 per cent for working age people and 100 per cent for pensioners and war pensioners.
These changes would only affect working age people.
The survey is available on www.richmondshire.gov.uk/surveys/ctrs
It must be completed by October 24.
