Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh will attend this year’s Paras’ 10 challenge at Catterick Garrison.
Entries are now open for the event which will takes place on September 7.
The Paras’ 10 was run by The Parachute Regiment in Aldershot from 1982 to 1993.
After the Paras left Aldershot in 1993, the event was dormant until it was revived by Major Sam McGrath in 2008.
The challenge is now run by Pegasus Company, The Parachute Regiment’s own training and selection wing.
Now in its 12th year at Catterick the PARAS’ 10 is well established as one of the UK’s must do endurance challenges with more than 15,000 runners and ‘tabbers’ having attempted it since its relaunch.
The course is the same one that recruits must TAB with a 35lb Bergen plus helmet and weapon in under one hour 50 minutes in order to be worthy of a maroon beret worn by The Parachute Regiment.
Actress Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle Connor in the soap, will see runners off from the start line.
There is also a two-mile fun run for children aged between 8 and 15 years of age.
There is no timing, however each participant will receive a memento of their run.
There are also trophies for boys and girls in these age groups 8-10, 11-13, 14-15.
Entries must be made online before the day and cost £10. All children must be accompanied by an adult, who gets to run for free.
