Business and community groups across Richmondshire are preparing to come to the aid of those who have to self-isolate due the coronavirus crisis.

A number of shops have offered to deliver groceries to those in need during the epidemic.

Community groups are also being formed to ensure the vulnerable have someone to turn to.

Other organisations such as GP surgeries are also putting measures in place to ensure they are prepared for an escalation of the crisis.

Richmondshire Today is compiling a list of all businesses and groups who are offering help.

The below list is arranged alphabetically by the town or village where the business or group is based, although many of the organisations provide help and deliveries to a wider area.

Brompton-on-Swale

The village shop is offering a delivery service within the village to elderly residents who are self-isolating. Call 01748 811408 for details.

Catterick Garrison

Colburn

Colburn Hub and Community Cafe is providing lunches and is looking to set up a pop-up food bank. A two-course meal costs £4.50. Call 07833490502 (Angie) or 07791768903 (Helen).

Hawes and Upper Dales

A Good Life Project – Upper Dales Covid-19 Support Group is offering help to the vulnerable. Visit https://www.facebook.com/groups/2618934975043524/ for details.

Humble Pie are delivering meals around Hawes/Bainbridge/upper Swaledale if needed. All ingredients/allergens labelled. Made fresh daily. Click here for details.

Simonstone Hall is offering a free delivery service of its meals, with plans to also offer groceries, fresh milk, eggs and cleaning products, newspapers and prescriptions. Call 01969 667255 for details.

Stage 1 Cycles offers a delivery and collection service for its bike hire and repairs so anybody wanting to keep active and cycle but social distance all bookings can be made on line or over the telephone. Call 01969 666873 or email www.stage1cycles.co.uk

The Old Sweet Shop will deliver locally following distancing guidelines and continue to post sweets and chocolates further afield. Visit http://www.theoldsweetshophawes.co.uk. If anyone is or knows of someone local self isolating for 12 weeks who might need a bit of cheering up contact Kev and he will try to provide a few sweets on him.

Hudswell

An action group has been formed to help residents through the George & Dragon community pub and the Little Shop. Services they can offer to the vulnerable include collection of prescriptions, delivery of essential groceries and  fresh fruit and veg, post mail, have a chat on the phone. The George and Dragon is also offering takeaway and home delivery of beer and inexpensive and tasty meals.

Leyburn

Halls Family Butchers will take orders over the phone and deliver to your house. Call 01969 622122.

Carricks will deliver fresh produce on a Wednesday. All orders are to be placed two days in advance. The day before delivery we will call the day before to arrange payment. To place an order simply call 01677470499 or alternatively, email carricks-ltd@btconnect.com. They are also offering a collection point at our shop in Snape where people can order in advance and collect from a collection area having paid in advance by card payment.

Leyburn Pets will operate as normal. Deliveries will be free within 10 miles of Leyburn with a minimum order of £10. Your delivery can be left at your front door or in a porch, shed, garage etc as required. Once we receive your request for a delivery we will telephone to arrange payment, confirm your details and let you know when to expect delivery.

Melsonby

A community group is being formed to help vulnerable residents. More details to follow.

Middleham

The Wensleydale Hotel is offering a takeaway meals service and can also deliver bread. Call 01969 622093 for details.

The Richard III Hotel will deliver home cooked meals to the elderly who are self-isolating in the Middleham area. Call 01969 623240.

Andersons Takeaway is offering home cooked meals delivered free of charge. You can pre-pay for friends and family. Tel 01969 629290.

Muker

Muker Village Store & Teashop are delivering to those who are having to self isolate in Muker Parish. For details click here.

Ravensworth

Ravensworth Nurseries are providing a plant delivery service. Just call the nursery on 01325 718370 ore message them via Facebook to place your order. Orders under £20 maybe subject to a small delivery charge.

Reeth

Reeth & District Community Transport (Community Bus) is working with Hudson House, Reeth Medical Centre and Reeth Post Office to offer a shopping, prescription collection and delivery service for everyone that needs us.
We can collect your weekly shopping and prescriptions and deliver to your door, if you need them please call them to make arrangements. There will be a small charge of £1 to cover the cost of running the service. Please call 01748 880021. Age Concern is providing a hot meal delivery service to the vulnerable. If you are over 50 and have been told that you need to self-isolate or are a friend or family member you can book meals by calling 01325 741492 by 11am on the day needed or emailing catering@ageuknyd.org.uk.

Neeps and Tatties Greengrocers runs a delivery service twice-weekly and is offering the service to anyone self-isolating. For more details call 01748 825397.

Out of the Box! has introduced a phone and collect ordering service, and when possible, offering a delivery service for a minimal charge. West Witton say they are still getting deliveries of fresh bread, milk, eggs, fruit and vegetables, and all store cupboard essentials. They have reduced hours, but we will be open every day.
