Countryside ladies’ day to bring curtain down on Catterick jumps season

Catterick Racecourse’s National Hunt season will come to a stylish close next month with the return of Countryside Ladies’ Day.

The popular raceday takes place on Wednesday, March 4, combining competitive jumps racing with countryside-inspired winter fashion.

Alongside a six-race card, racegoers will have the chance to take part in fashion competitions including Best Dressed Lady and Best Accessory. With the fixture falling during the National Hunt season, judges will be looking for outfits that blend style with practicality, encouraging attendees to dress for the weather.

This year’s Best Dressed Lady competition is sponsored by La Fille Rouge. The winner will receive a handmade cape along with a pair of Horseshoe Package tickets for Catterick’s summer Ladies’ Day in August. La Fille Rouge creates bespoke tweed, wool and waxed cotton capes and accessories, handmade by North Yorkshire designer Yvonne Scales, who will also have a retail stand at the event.

Millbry Hill Country Store will award a £100 gift voucher for the Best Accessory, giving racegoers the opportunity to showcase standout hats, gloves or boots.

The raceday will also decide Catterick’s Champion Trainer and Champion Jockey for the 2025/26 jumps season. Following a double at the last meeting, Jonjo O’Neill Jr and the training partnership of Jonjo and AJ O’Neill currently lead their respective standings on five wins each. However, with several contenders just one victory behind and only two fixtures remaining, the titles could be settled on the final afternoon.

The first race is scheduled for 2.10pm, with the finale at 4.40pm. The card includes the Happy 106th Birthday Frank Buttery Handicap Hurdle at 3.40pm, sponsored by Sky Bet as part of its Fan Spotlight campaign celebrating loyal racing supporters.

Gates open at noon, and racegoers are encouraged to book in advance to secure discounted admission and hospitality packages.

With championship honours on the line and countryside fashion taking centre stage, Countryside Ladies’ Day promises a fitting finale to the season.
