Covid rate falls in Richmondshire

Covid-19 rate per 100,000 people over time.

The number of people testing positive for Covid-19 has fallen in Richmondshire, suggesting the latest wave caused by omicron variant has peaked.

A total of 928 positive tests were reported in the district in the seven days to January 7, down from 980 in the week to January 6 and 1,009 up to January 5.

The rate of positive tests per 100,000 people stands at 1,727, compared to 1,809 two days ago.

The fall mirrors the data for other parts of North Yorkshire which have all fallen in recent days.

The rate has also fallen a#nationally over the same period.

Separate data shows Catterick Garrison and Colburn had the most cases in the seven days to January 5 with 345 positive tests.

Elsewhere there were 186 cases in Richmond, 155 in Leyburn, Middleham and Tunstall, 136 in Catterick Village and Brompton, 108 in North Richmondshire and 79 in the upper Dales.
