Crafters invited to make fused glass Christmas scene

A Christmas-themed workshop giving crafters the opportunity to learn the basics of working with fused glass is taking place at The Station in Richmond.

The workshop on November 19 will begin with a short introduction to the art and science involved in working with glass, with particular emphasis on the specific aspects involved in forming glass in this way.

Participants will then have an opportunity to use the glassmakers tools to mark, score and break glass in a controlled way.

Consideration will be given to subject matter, composition, and the use of colour to create a design based for one Christmas scene or two decorations.

There will also be discussion about how to plan and control the firing process to create the desired effects in the finished piece.

Crafters will then move on to creating designs which can be completed ready for firing later in the kilns at The Garden Studio in Masham. All tools and equipment will be provided.

Completed and fired pieces will be available for collection from The Station two weeks after the date of the workshop.
