Local artist and female entrepreneur Kathryn Guy will bring together seven talented makers for a day of creative workshops at the Gardens Rooms at Tennants in Leyburn next month.
The Creative Day on Saturday, April 2 offers participants a menu of options to pursue with one of the artists in residence, including ceramic boot making with Heather Griffiths or lino print making with Liz Jones.
Event organiser Kathryn Guy explains the motivation behind this day of workshops.
“During lockdown many people have turned to creativity and crafting for entertainment and therapy.
“While it is sometimes nice to pursue these interests at home, people tend to advance and grow their skills when they can explore techniques with other creatives and under the leadership of professional artists.
“The day includes tuition from an expert artist, materials, and a delicious lunch from the caterers at Tennants.
“And of course, tea and cake in the afternoon.
“You can’t get really creative without a slice of cake to keep you going! It’s a lovely social occasion as well as a learning experience for those looking to expand their creative outlets.”
Each workshop is suitable for beginners who want to learn about the technique or more established makers who would like to experiment and develop new methods.
Kathryn Guy who is coordinating the Creative Day is a textile artist living in the Dales.
Kathryn sells and exhibits her work at various events including RHS Harlow Carr and Staithes Arts Festival.
Places on each workshop at the Creative Day are limited to ten people, running from 9.30am to 4pm and must be booked in advance.
