Fire crews were called to a house in Wensley, near Leyburn at 3.55pm today following reports of smoke inside the building.
On arrival, the occupant had already evacuated and was safely outside.
Firefighters confirmed the incident involved a small fire in a microwave, which was already out when they reached the scene.
Crews ventilated the property to clear smoke and carried out safety checks before giving advice to the occupier.
