Crowds expected at Dales Festival of Food and Drink

Final preparations are taking place for the Dales Festival of Food and Drink, which takes place this weekend in Leyburn.

More than 80 food and drink producers will have stalls at the free event in the town’s Market Place.

There will also be cookery demonstrations and live music, including a new Live and Local event in the marquee from 6pm to 8pm on Saturday night featuring young, local musicians.

During the day the activities include cheese making demonstrations by Wensleydale Creamery, beer tasting, performances by Leyburn Amateur Dramatics Society and Leyburn Bar, cookery demonstrations by talented local chefs.

PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES

SATURDAY 15th JUNE

  • 10:00am – The Festival and all activities open with a performance from Hollywood Boredom]
  • 10:30am – The Roundhill Brewery Beer Tasting
  • 11:00am – Chefs demonstration by Michael Barrett – Head chef of the Street Head Inn in Bishopdale
  • 12:00pm – The Gravy Lark. A hilarious comedy performed by the Leyburn Amateur Dramatic Society
  • 1:00pm – Enjoy a performance by the Hartlepool Ukulele Group
  • 2:30pm – Barry Mageean of Taplin Mageean Spirit Co will show us how gin is made
  • 3:00pm – A performance by the outstanding local Muker Silver Band
  • 6:00pm to 8:00pm – Live and Local: Local musicians perform in the marquee
  • 6:30pm – The last shuttle bus leaves for the car park.

SUNDAY 16th JUNE

  • 10:00am – The Festival and all activities open with a performance from Hollywood Boredom
