Local produce celebrated at Dales Festival of Food and Drink

Delicious food and drink will be celebrated at the annual Dales Festival of Food and Drink this weekend.

The free event in Leyburn Market Place will be held on Saturday and Sunday, with more than 60 producers, artisans and craftspeople taking part.

The event is organised by the Leyburn and Mid Wensleydale Partnership and sponsored by the Wensleydale Creamery.

Julie Greenslade, from the partnership, said: “Our events team work all year round to ensure that the Dales Festival of Food and Drink is a great weekend for all the family, with wonderful stalls where local food and drink producers showcase their produce.

“There will also be performances from local bands, cookery demonstrations from some of the best local chefs, cheese-making demonstrations from The Wensleydale Creamery, craft and gift fairs, children’s entertainers and performances from Leyburn Amateur Dramatic Society.”

This year’s event will host the North-East heats of the Delicious Produce Awards.

A team of local chefs and food experts will judge the heat.
