Cyclist knocked off bike by hit-and-run driver

A cyclist was knocked off his bike today by a motorist who failed to stop.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information about the collision.

It happened between 10am and 10.15am on Sunday.

A pedal cycle and a white estate car collided on the B6271 between Scorton and Bolton-on-Swale.

The cyclist fell into the road and sustained multiple bruises.

The driver of the car did not stop.

A police spokesperon said: “We are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who recalls seeing the vehicle prior to the collision to get in touch as soon as possible to assist the investigation.

“In particular, we are appealing for any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the collision.”

Arthur Caygill Cycles have also issued the appeal following the incident to the customer.

The store said: “A very good customer of ours was riding his new Caygill bike outside of Bolton-on-Swale school and a white Audi estate crashed into him, knocked him off his bike and drove off.

“Hit and runs must stop!”
