An artist inspired by the landscapes and industrial heritage of the Yorkshire Dales is opening her studio to visitors as part of this year’s North Yorkshire Open Studios.
Julie Edwardson, who is based at Yore Mill Gallery in Aysgarth, will welcome visitors over two weekends as part of the county-wide event, which sees more than 200 artists and makers open their workspaces to the public.
The annual North Yorkshire Open Studios programme gives art lovers the chance to meet artists, learn about their creative processes and buy work directly from the makers themselves.
Julie, who works in both oils and acrylics, draws inspiration from the post-industrial landscapes of the Dales, exploring both their natural beauty and the marks left by generations of human activity.
Using a combination of paint, mixed media and collage, she creates richly textured works that reflect the area’s distinctive character and history.
Visitors will be able to view Julie’s studio at Yore Mill Gallery, beside the Upper Falls at Aysgarth, and see a selection of her latest work.
The event begins with a preview evening on Friday, June 5, from 6pm to 9pm. The studio will then be open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, June 6-7, and again on June 13-14.
North Yorkshire Open Studios is one of the county’s largest arts events, providing opportunities for artists and makers to showcase and sell their work while welcoming visitors into their creative spaces.
