Businesses, local organisations and individuals in the Yorkshire Dales National Park are being invited to make use of a free listings service for their 2026 events.

Events listed online by Friday, January 16 in the National Park Authority’s What’s On calendar will also be considered for inclusion in the long-running annual printed guide to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, The Visitor 2026.

One of the local organisations to regularly make use of the listings service is Keld Heritage Centre in upper Swaledale. It holds popular walks, talks and workshop events throughout the year.

Project Manager at Keld Heritage Centre, Helen Guy, said getting events on the What’s On page and in The Visitor magazine had helped spread the word:

“Given that we are in such a remote location, being able to advertise our events on the Authority’s website is really beneficial in terms of reaching a wider audience and extending our advertising. Plus, it is a free service which is so helpful as we are a charity with limited funds,” she said.

The National Park Authority website is seen by about two million people annually.

A total of 80,000 copies of The Visitor 2026 will be printed in March and distributed locally, regionally and nationally to tourist information centres, visitor attractions, B&Bs, cafes, service stations and other outlets.

A What’s On events calendar in various formats has been hosted and managed by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority for more than 20 years, while The Visitor has been published since 1981.
